Logolog (@logolog) is a logo design blog focusing on wit and lateral thinking in logo design. The logos featured here made me smile and wish I had thought of them first! I like it when logos take me by surprise, either with unexpected associations or playful ideas.

Enjoy.

The Jewish Film Festival

Designer:

Mirko Ilic.

Poster design by Sanja Kuzmanovic.

Over the past several years, the identities for the Zagreb Jewish Film Festival have been designed by another Ex-Yugoslavian designer, Mirko Ilic. All the logos feature a witty implementation of the Star of David either in relation to the topic of film in general, or the annual theme, like Tolerance in 2012.

Next year’s festival will be in May 2013 and the topic is Equality. The logo mark consists of three equals signs which form the Star of David in the negative space.

A few years ago when I had the opportunity to meet Mirko at his studio in New York, he mentioned that he never keeps any sketches. That’s the case with this identity as well. Enjoy the samples of the finished work.
